used to take notes, records information i may have trouble remembering and journaling. used in conjuction with Naturally Speaking software. While the voice translation wasn't perfect, it saved me lots of time over the manual process of just remembering and typing.

I can't tell you how many times I've turned this on to find out the battery was dead and how many times I've had it start playing in my pocket. If you carry this in a pocket, bag or purse, it will turn on by itself and run out its battery without you knowing. It has a lock feature but you have to remember to switch it on. It also takes too long to start up, if you need this to record things that happen quickly, you will be waiting many seconds before it's ready to go. Navigation is a bit complex, switching between folders, different settings, etc.

I ordered the sony ICDUX70 - it came VERY FAST, before I expected it to, as i hadnt paid any extra for expedited shipping. The product is all in tact, comes with all its parts....and It works and sounds excellent! Thank you! I would buy from here again.

I did a bunch of research before purchasing this product because i wanted something that was efficient as far as battery life goes, easy to use, and not too expensive. This recorder did it for me. I was turned away from it at first due to negative battery reviews with some people saying that it died within the first week etc, but i have used it for over a month now and recorded about six (6) 50 minute (give or take a minute) lectures for class in stereo mode with mic sensitivity on hi and noise reduction on. The recorder is still running on FULl power after all that with the FACTORY battery.
Another negative review i saw often was the POWER UP time. I was perplexed at these complaints because mine only takes literally a second to boot up, idk if sony made upgrades to this or what not but start up time is really a non-issue.
Overall, i love this product, it was the perfect purchase and i didn't pay too much for it. it works just like a jump drive when i plug it into my mac. File navigation is easy it saves in YEAR MONTH DAY format and you can seperate your recordings simply by listening to them briefly.
Distance wasn't much of an issue with it either. In most of my classes i'm anywhere from 6-15 feet away from my professors and as long as you don't have someone doing jumping jacks in a backpack or crumpling up paper, there isn't much noise at all. great product.

Really happy with this little guy. It's a snazzy red and only cost me 50 bucks because it was refurbished but it works perfectly.
Little baby downside: goes through batteries like poop through a goose.
