For me this program was a nightmare to download using the SmartDownload AppStream that Broderbund requires you to use. Slow, slow even though I usually download large programs in a flash with my cable connection.
Unbelievably, this AppStream download program does not go away after the download. If my computer runs, it runs. To even open the Printmaster Gold 17 program, you must go through an AppStream internet login process, and the login screen doesn't even remember your ID and password. You must retype these every time---grrrr. You must stay on the internet throughout the program, and when you finish, Printmaster will close, but on my cable connection, AppStream never does.
It seems that most of the Printmaster's images "live" on the internet, so if you want to browse a collection, it takes a bit of time as each item downloads. It makes scrolling through the collection a bit slow. And I suppose it might be really irritating if you have a slow connection.
There are lots of opportunities to create your cards from scratch, putting together from their selection of backgrounds, frames,digital photos, etc., and that's what I do most of the time.
The cards print out beautifully on the glossy greeting card stock that I use. There is a professional quality to these, and I only print on the standard setting of ink.
My recommendation to Broderbund: (1) The user needs to be able to run the full Printmaster program without the internet, and then connect to the internet by choice if needed. (2) Get rid of AppStream entirely.
I originally rated this program with One Star, but this is my revised review, and I would give the program Three Stars now. Amazon will let me edit the content of my review, but I couldn't edit the Star evaluation, so I put Three Stars in the title line.

the version I was using was so old I don't believe it had a version number, but I loved it, so I had never upgraded. When I finally did, I was not disappointed. It has all my old favorite features, plus more. perfect for my needs.

I got the download version, when I got to the download, a program called Appstream had to be installed. I thought it was some kind of download manager. If it were only that! It automatically installed PM, I could not change the install path. Then came the next surprise: if I want to start PM, it automatically starts IE and I have to logon to Broderbund to use PM! Then I wanted to uninstall Appstream and it uninstalled PM too! What a piece of ... The worst part is that it is advertised as "Smart download"...total mislead.

All I could say is this product was great! It was easy to install and use. I always used this software to create calendars and flyers for our church events so this came in handy! I will continue to use this product. I would recommend it for other churches and other non-profit organizations as well as for personal use.
