Excellent, but some flawsDec 29, 2007

For years I've wondered why no one has put a collection of the comics before. Now its here and I like it. Its great to have so many issues on DVD instead of having to hunt & spend a fortune and a heck of a lot of storage space on old issues. As with all long running comics, there will be some good print runs & some bad ones. Having it all on 1 DVD allows you to catch all of it & not waste your money on an old issue only to find it was one of the mediocre issues. But here are the problems. The scanning shows some very obvious flaws. Some of the earlier issues show some yellowing, folds or other problems. The producers of this DVD obviously didn't make sure they only picked near-mint to mint comics. I don't know if it was possible to have a direct digital transfer of the original master printing that is often done when reprinting an issue, but it wasn't done here. Another problem with the scans is you can see a subtle "ghost" image of the opposite side of the page on the page you're reading. I guess the light-scanning method caught some of the opposite side of the page. Its barely noticeable, though it does lessen the image. Overall I'm glad I got this DVD, and would buy it again even with these problems.
