3Good but not greatMar 16, 2009
By Courtney Jacques
I bought the Latte 2GB MP3 player about two weeks ago... I have had a bit of time to go through all the nuances of this player and to tell the truth, it's not bad.

PRO's:
-Screen quality
-Audio quality (with earbuds)
-Menu appearance
-Storage space

CON's:
-External speaker
-Lack of playlists
-Heat sensitive buttons
-Button setup
-Screen brightness (in certain light)
-Software installation
-Radio doesn't save stations

Ok, when I first opened the box. I noticed a weird smell to the product. Like the warehouse caught fire and this was the last item they got out of the place. I charged the player up while I was loading the included software on my computer... (I will agree with some other reviews) The software can be a bit confusing in that you have to do things in a certain way. The first time you connect the player to your computer you have to have the player shutoff, Then have you computer load the device driver from the install disc, Then load the AVI transcoder on you system. There is another program on the software disc I loaded, but its all in another language so I don't know what it is for...

The screen looks awesome in low light. Audio is great with the earbuds. (External speaker sucks). The heat sensitive buttons don't always pick up right away so you may have to push for a second longer. The button setup dose change from menu to menu which can take a little getting used to. The radio has the option to save stations to memory, but if you shut the player off they're not there when you power it back on. I would have to say the most annoying thing though is the fact that you cannot create playlists... You can create the appearance of playlists, but the Latte just plows right through any folders you setup.

All in all there are quite a few things I don't like about the Latte MP3, but in the end it dose play music and video well... So if you want something that dose just that and looks sleek. This will get the job done. (Just with a few speed bumps here and there.)

i bought this because it has the multi-language feature which supports korean, japanese, and chinese language. and it's really helpful, only that it seemed like it doesn't support the id3 tags, so it only displays the file name which is a little bit annoying. also the shuffle options doesn't really work. but other than those, it's an awesome purchase

2Buy Something ElseJan 06, 2009
By Dewey "BigBandFan"
I bought 2 of these for Christmas- the 4GB for myself, and a 2GB for my daughter. I normally research the heck out of tech gadgets, but this time I let the slick ads and low price grab me without checking. I'll admit this is my first Mp3 player, but I'm not exactly an idiot with new tech stuff- just point me to the directions or the latest "how-to" blogs, and I'm fine. Apparently, not the case with Mp3. Maybe I've waited too long to be a "beginner", but it was difficult to find basic info on loading songs. The software provided by Latte kept giving me error messages, and I sent 2 messages to Latte "support" over 7 days time, before finally being told to go to their website to download an updated version of the AVI Converter(for videos only). After searching for days, I found a site on the web that let me know Windows Media is the magic ticket for Mp3. Until now, I've relied on my old CD's(and portable player), and never had anything stored on the computer. Finally got everything downloaded(hours and hours of music!)and working on the player, but the Neon would not recognize play lists(states "unknown album")or organize by genre. Discovered that Latte has lots of slick ads, but their website and support are USELESS! One of the features that attracted me was the ability to upgrade the memory with use of SD cards, but who knows how that works! Nothing in the manual or on the website tells you how to use it- just shows it as a feature. While searching the web for info, found a great support site by CREATIVE- which was what I originally wanted to buy in the first place! Latte says it's Neon battery life is around 2 years- and now I know what I'll be buying when it runs out...a Creative Zen, like I should have done before!

Latte mp3 player is a good mp3 player. Myself being a parent I have a little difficult time knowing what to push to change from a song to get back to the menu, but my son who I bought it for seems to have the hang of it. Easy to transfer songs and pictures. I have not attempted to transfer anything else. My son thinks it cool to have an mp3 with a game.

1Simply not worth itNov 25, 2008
By Tim Bentley
Keep in mind that everyone's experience is going to be different than mine. Also, bear in mind there are three types of people that write reviews: those who have an agenda, who are narcissistic, or who angry. I hope by understanding that, I can write what is truth.
I did some research on this product before I purchased it. From the other reviews it seemed solid enough. Some people griped about technical follies, misunderstandings, etc. Others, whom seemed technically savvy, reviewed this item and was quite excited about its abilities. I do not know, however, if the review was done by someone who was paid to write it or if it was done by someone who truly used and liked the product.
All-in-all the product sucked. I have a Mac network (PowerBook, iBook, & Mac Mini). The reviews state it works on a Mac. It does not work on a Mac. At all.
I followed the directions, FAQs, troubleshooting guide, but I could not even get the buttons to function (the entire device relies on the heat sensor buttons to function). The troubleshooting guide stated this was "normal." Why would you buy something that stated non-functionality was "normal?"
Dumb.
If you truly want a solid MP3 player, you will more than likely want to purchase one that is a little more expensive and is more popular, such as the iPod or Zune.
"You get what you pay for" is a cliche' for a reason.
