Dictionary does not pronounce words in Thai - only EnglishOct 17, 2006
By Jerry D. Wagner This "Thai <-> English Talking Electronic Dictionary and English-Thai Audio Travel PhraseBook ECTACO Partner ETh800" does not pronounce words in Thai from its 450,000 word dictionary. Only in English. The "Thai <-> English Talking Electronic Dictionary" and the "Talking bilingual dictionary" on their description page is misleading.
The speech recognize feature will only recognize phrases that are already in the phrasebook. You cannot just say any phrase and have it repeat it in Thai like it says you can in the description. You have to first select the topic then the subtopic where the phrase is located. The available phrases are then displayed making it unnecessary to try and get the ETh800 to recognize your voice which I was never able to do. You highlight the phrase and hit the speaker icon and it will say that phrase in Thai.
