Cinematize 2 has changed my life. Here's how I use it:
* select a ripped DVD, or pull directly from an unencrypted DVD disc,
* open a title set,
* pick a frame to start,
* pick a frame to end, (yes any length)
* select the output (video, audio, and/or subtitles)
* select quality/size of each option
* save as QuickTime movies (as flattened single .mov file or with separate audio/video files), AVI files, DV Stream files, iPod Video files, MPEG-4 files, or raw formats. AMAZING. Never a problem. Never disappointed.
Sample file sizes:
Elementary Stream ~ 1 MB/sec
DV/DVCPRO ~ 3 MB/sec
DVCPRO50 ~ 6 MB/sec
Full Quality 4:2:2 ~ 20 MB/sec
System requirements:
* A Macintosh with a G3 or later PowerPC processor, or an Intel Core or later processor.
* Mac OS X 10.3.9 or higher (PowerPC), 10.4 or higher (Intel)
* QuickTime 6.4 or later, QuickTime 7.03 or later required for iPod movie file (M4V) output, QuickTime 7.1.5 or higher for Apple TV movie (M4V) output
* 7 MB minimum of free hard disk space
* 2GB or more of free space is recommended for extracted files
* 28 MB RAM minimum, 256 MB RAM or more recommended
* A DVD-ROM compatible drive
