Disclaimer: I have only used the demo version of this software.
I was looking at Byki as an option for a friend who wants to learn Slovak, and I was somewhat disappointed by the recorded speech that goes along with the flashcards. The pronunciation is distinctly Russian, not Slovak (some of the letters are pronounced incorrectly, and the stress tends to end up on the wrong syllable), which makes this program fairly useless for learning to speak Slovak correctly. From what I observed, the written text is generally accurate, and the program itself seems to use a decent and fairly effective teaching method, so this review is not meant to be a statement against the Byki software in general; I just think the Slovak version is not worth the money if you care about getting the spoken language right.
I ended up getting the Colloquial Slovak book/CD instead, and although I've only listened to a little bit of that so far, the recordings there are done by actual native Slovak speakers.

I purchased Byki Deluxe Slovak download from their website for my MacBook Pro and also Byki Slovak for iPad from the Apple app store. The whole Byki approach I find quite enjoyable. The flashcards of words and phrases are presented for recognition or for production. One can create own vocabulary lists and Byki will let those be published on their web site where peer users can download...I haven't submitted my own list so I haven't tried that.
My kids who know Slovak better than me are having fun with this software and quite seriously study through lists of flashcards.
The audio files are about 1400 short phrases that I like to let play on the Mac while I busy myself studying Colloquial Slovak on m iPad. While Colloquial Slovak is a classical approach to understanding the construction of a language, Byki is a modern approach to quickly retain new vocabulary and to refine your pronunciation, quickly. I find these two methods to be great complements. Sorry Berlitz but the combination Byki and C.S. is so much more effective and so much less money.

P.S. - my wife who is Slovak finds Byki quite good. She's been trying over the years to shop for language learning for me and finally we've hit it right.
