1Adobe PhotoShop CS3 ExtendedMay 17, 2007
By Keith P. Mitchell
I give one star to Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended because of all of the product defects that I have found in this product release and in the responses that I have received from Adobe e-mail technical support when I report bugs.

I have been using Adobe Photoshop since version 7. CS3 is version 10. Numerous features that used to work very well in earlier versions of Photoshop, are broken (do not work anymore) in CS3 Extended. I have been forced to use CS3 Extended when I wish to utilize new features not available in older products (these features seem to work very well) and revert to earlier versions of Photoshop to complete the same the same job when the legacy features are defective (do not work) in CS3. This is an unacceptable practice.

Add to that, I send bug report e-mails to Adobe, and the technical support staff does not understand standard technical English. The responses that I receive back are totally inappropriate for the issue. They sound like computer generated gibberish.

So far, I have not yet received 341 dollars of warm and fuzzies from my upgrade to Photoshop CS3 Extended from my older version of Photoshop. If Adobe ever fixes ALL of the product defects that it has introduced in CS3, CS3 could become a dynamite product! I am not holding my breath.

My recommendation: If possible, stay with an older Adobe Photoshop product until Adobe ACTUALLY does fix all of the problems (product defects) in CS3 that did not exist in earlier versions of PhotoShop before purchasing.

4Excellent Upgrade, but limited 3D capabilitiesMay 31, 2007
By Thomas "tomsde"
I really like the new interface of Photoshop and new features, but I found the 3D capabilities rather limited. Years ago in Adobe Photodeluxe 4, Adobe included the ability to add 3D models to pictures, but they were only from one company and not compatible with anything else. This is an improvement over that system, but I was hoping for 3D model texturing tools. If you could generate new maps with this program it would be a must have for any 3D artist--as it stands nows it gives you the ability to edit pre-existing texture maps within Photoshop which can be exported, but little else. Clearly the 3D end needs to be improved upon and I'm sure it will be in future editions. I reccomend those interested in it's 3D usage to download the demo first to be sure it suits their needs, otherwise most people might find the unextended upgrade better for them.

5This ones for professionals only....Jul 24, 2008
By J. Darknell "MutantPixel"
Not sure what program the other users are using, but I'm a longtime Photoshop user; since ver. 2.5, the first PC version and while CS3 isn't the biggest or best upgrade to date, it isn't bad either. It has a lot of very handy new features and refinements. I can go literally for months and never get a single crash in Photoshop, it is by far the most stable application I've ever used in Windows. Plugins I purchased almost 10 years ago STILL WORK. Its a shame the previous review doesn't detail any of his so called 'bugs', I'd be happy to offer tech support as I would more than likely blame user error in this care. The panorama stitching, and HDR/32 bit image support are worth the upgrade alone! Highly recommended.
