Create compelling print layouts, immersive content for playback in the Adobe Flash Player runtime, and interactive PDF documents. | | | Features: | |
• Preflight while you design; continuous preflighting alerts you to potential production problems in real time, so you can quickly navigate to a problem, fix it directly in layout, and keep working
• Find, sort, and manage all your document's placed files in the customizable Links panel; view attributes that are most critical to your workflow such as scale, rotation, and resolution
• Deliver multiple versions of a document for different users, all from a single InDesign source file; hide text at paragraph, word, and character level without relying on layers; the remaining text and anchored objects automatically reflow
• Simplify the writing, production, and management of long documents with flexible and powerful cross-references that dynamically update as content is changed or moved within a document
• Transform page layouts into dynamic SWF files without working in the Adobe Flash authoring environment; create digital documents with interactive buttons, hyperlinks, and unique page transitions for playback in the Adobe Flash Player runtime

Difficult upgradeOct 01, 2009 after trying out the product I was satisfied it resolved problems I was having with InDesign 2 and InDesign CS. I reviewed the upgrade restrictions and there were none that would affect my situation.
After receiving and installing I was unable to upgrade InDesign CS because it would not accept my previous serial number. After spending an hour with Adobe Technical Service in India and going through some very unusual steps that required double clicking on a dialog box which brought up a number which I relayed to my contact in India who after a period of time gave me a number to enter in the reply box.
At this point the installation finished and my new software was registered.
I asked what would happen if I purchased a newer Mac computer and wanted to reinstall the software. The reply was that I would need to contact Technical Service and go through the whole process again.
Having these facts I would not purchase the upgrade if I again had the choice.
AwesomeSep 20, 2009 The product is awesome, it makes our job easier and Amazon was easy to work with to shop at, the shipping was free and the product arrives when they said it would.

Adobe InDesign CS4Jul 10, 2009 For those professional design people involved in publishing high quality documents, books, brochures, and other extreme design challenges, this is the best version so far of Adobe InDesign software. I have found it to be totally reliable.Adobe InDesign CS4

A very good version to have while transitioning from PowerPC to IntelJul 09, 2009 Not only did Adobe provide a version of InDesign that is stable in Windows Vista but this Mac version of InDesign CS4 is more stable in Leopard than InDesign CS3. If you need to get a version of InDesign that will run natively on Intel-based Macs and you have not already upgraded to InDesign CS3, this is a good time to upgrade. InDesign CS4 does not have significant new features compared to InDesign CS3 but it runs more stable on Intel Macs with Mac OS 10.5 Leopard and the features that were new and significant in InDesign CS3 are more refined in InDesign CS4 - especially the transparency and effects dialog.
If your switching from PowerPC Macs to Intel-based Macs and want InDesign to scream, this is a good version for taking advantage of the Mac-based Intel processors.
On the other hand, even though the listed system requirements are a PowerMac G5 or Intel based Mac, InDesign CS4 works very efficiently on late revisions of the PowerMac G4 or Powerbook G4.
This version allows me to run it on my 1.67 GHz Powerbook G4, with a 128 MBs of video memory and 2 GBs of RAM and my Intel-Xeon based Mac Pro desktop. So Adobe is helping my PowerPC-to-Intel-transition to be smooth, convenient, an incremental. I am able to switch to an Intel-based Mac desktop, for now, and put off getting an Intel based Mac laptop for a few more years.
