Dreamweaver CS4 ReviewMay 18, 2009 I upgraded to Dreamweaver CS4 from DW 8. This new product has so many wonderful changes I can't list them all. I am 100% satisfied. I did have to call Adobe to help with the install because it didn't go as it should have for an upgrade, but they were extremely helpful and solved the problem.
Dreamweaver CS4Mar 11, 2009 Great product. Allows me to create sophisticated Web sites with minimal effort. I wish there was a manual included with this product. For the price it should include some documentation other than the Help system.

Lots of handy features, but some old not-so-great featuresMar 02, 2009 As a former GoLive user who also used Dreamweaver 8, I was hoping to see the best of both worlds in the newest version of Dreamweaver. It does have new features like the pop-up menu tools to make tasks easier. I was very disappointed, however, to see one of my least favorite tools unchanged. Instead of using GoLive's intuitive rollover tool, Dreamweaver retains the old counter-intuitive rollover tool that doesn't give you a way to to edit the rollover link once you've defined the rollover. In the attempt to give multiple ways to access each tool, the program seems overly cluttered and complicated.
Definitely buy "The Missing Manual" with this software!!

Too ProfessionalDec 16, 2008 I purchased Dreamweaver to assist in building small websites, but found it extremely difficult to use without expert knowledge. Although all the tools and helps seem to be included, the operation and use of CS4 is NOT intuitive or user-friendly. This is more of a program for professional progammers and website builders, not a toll for casual users.

Coming Together with Creative SuiteDec 07, 2008 I upgraded to CS4 of Dreamweaver when I upgraded my Illustrator. I have to say that Dreamweaver CS3 did not have that integrated look and feel that Photoshop and Illustrator CS3 did. It did look like in CS3 that Dreamweaver was a product that Adobe had purchased (which they had).
With CS4, The same look and feel that Illustrator and Photoshop have, is similar. You can kindof tell that its still the Old Dreamweaver under the collapsing menus etc but this new release is definitely a facelift. You can definitely tell that is your trusted Dreamweaver running under the covers which is comforting to those of us who have been using Dreamweaver for a long time and its nice that some of the look and feel now tends towards the Creative Suite Standard.
Upon first openning Dreamweaver, it feels a lot from the previous version with maybe some more speed and faster connecting to my source files. I did notice some minor changes around how CSS is made available to the User but most everything should be familiar.
You just know that with this latest release, you can be assured that your code will run be compatible with all the newest browser standards and in testing the sites that I'm generating with Dreamweaver CS4, the results are outstanding on compatibility. It also does great for editing dynamic page code. I do quite a bit of dynamic work and Dreamweaver handles my code very well.
Overall, a great upgrade but I do think that it will be CS5 (or whatever they call it) when the Suite will really come together --- although they did a great job at getting it that much closer this time.
Great work Adobe and Amazon got this to me early - thanks Amazon. Overall, this isn't a very in depth review, these products tend to be very complex but I hope this helps the experienced user at least know that he's not getting something massively different but rather a slightly slicker product with the same guts of our old trusted Dreamweaver with maybe a dash more speed.
